Day 1 - Starting with the purge - dresser drawers.
How many under garments do you really need?Sorted through socks, pants, sleepwear and shorts. Collected 2 bags, one to donate and one to trash.
Day 1 Inspiration - http://theyearofless.blogspot.com/
A very interesting journey, I will include some of their ideas.
Day 2 - On to the bathroom drawers and linen closet.
Emptied out the drawers of things that I no longer use or need. I had way too many towels and sheet sets. I scaled back to one set of sheets for each bed, and 1 extra set of sheets for my own bed. I moved the sheets into the closets closest to the bedroom they will be used in. I did the same for towels, I had towels in good shape of many colors from my various bathrooms over the years. I scaled back to 4 towels for each bathroom and 2 for the guest bathroom.
Day 3 - Clothes closet and bookshelf.
Time to tackle the closet. After reading a book on zero waste last night, it provided some suggestions for paring down the wardrobe. I realized that there were many items in my closet that I loved but I had not worn, because they did not match anything else. Time to start dumping. Clothes with stains or worn out, clothes that do not go with anything else (including shoes). Clothes that do not fit right, clothes that I don't wear. Duplicates....how many bike jersey's do I really need, how many t-shirts from sporting events do I need. I kept a few.
The bookshelf. Too many cookbooks that I do not use. Reduce it down to the ones I use regularly.
The first trip to the donation center. 5 bags of clothes, towels, sheets 3 bags of garbage.
